Storyboard
When starting a project, I love to storyboard my ideas because it’s always been something that helps me a lot in the ‘dreaming’ state of cinematography. Drawing everything out helps me discover what my intuitions are telling me what the shots can look like.
CHARACTER SKETCHES
Captains (2023, 3 min POC)
Written by Jana Bassan
Dir. by Annabelle Richens
Prod. by Marcus Tran
One of the upcoming projects I’m shooting will be a Proof-of-Concept pilot episode for a comedy-drama webtoon about two high-school captains who are exes. For ancillary content and planning we are in the process of turning this into a webtoon. Here are the concept sketches for our two main-leads.
STORYBOARD EXAMPLES
In the past, directors, production designers and gaffers have found my storyboards helpful in communicating our ideas with one another. During initial conversations with directors, I usually have a sketchpad and pencil with me to do a rough draft as they talk along, then I will make a more refined version.
CONCEPT ART EXAMPLES
Here are some concept sketches I did for key moments for the Curse (2023), a 3 min Proof of Concept short for an up-and-coming dark comedy feature film.
